As a woman on a mission to empower women to take control of their money and mortgage so they can build a financially fantastic future, International Women’s Day is really a day to celebrate.
It’s a day to look at how far we’ve come and also to think about how far we have left to go. As a whole, we’re in a much better position than we were even a decade ago. In my experience, it seems that we’ve found our voice and we’re being listened to. Financially, we seem to be on stronger footing and realising that “if it’s going to be, it’s up to me”. We’re taking action and making things happen.
We still have a long way to go with wage inequality, sorting out superannuation so that women aren’t financially disadvantaged by breaks from paid work to have families, and particularly about women’s safety in the home and streets. But that’s a whole other topic!
So fellow women, I salute you. I also salute the men that support us in every way they can. Let’s keep fighting the good fight with the love, determination, care and attention that we’re known for so that we can strive for equality and safety.
Surely that’s not too much to ask.
