Money management is always a thing when you’re trying to arrange finance or save for something special, so I thought I’d share my top 5 money hacks:
- Meal planning – figuring out your week of meals and making one trip to the supermarket instead of multiple will always save you money. It also saves time and mind power by not having to think about what’s for dinner every day.
- Having a spending plan so that you know where your money is going rather than it just disappearing every pay cheque.
- Having an allocated amount of “play money” in your spending plan that you can spend without justification on whatever you want. This helps prevent blowouts from feelings of deprivation.
- Checking your bank statements. It shocked me how many people don’t check their statements. Having a simple glance through your transactions weekly might reveal subscriptions you no longer use, little taps from a hacker who is preparing for a big tap. Or you might be shocked at how much you spend on lunch or coffee or takeaway each week.
- Pay yourself first. If you’re saving or even just building a buffer for a rainy day, always transfer that amount to your savings account immediately or set up an automatic transfer. If you want to save what’s left, chances are pretty high that there will be nothing left for savings.
Good luck and let me know how you get on!
