I’m a real list girl and there’s no better time for lists than Christmas.
I’ve just written my list to prepare our home for the onslaught of Christmas and school holidays with 4 boys in the house, so thought I’d share it with you.
- Clean out the fridge, because that thing is going to be pumping over the next 6 weeks. Get rid of anything that’s out of date, half eaten or unlikely to be eaten (have a pot luck dinner if you’ve got a lot to get rid of)
- Clean out the freezer – same as above.
- Write a shopping list of staples and easy to throw together meals and healthy snacks to restock the pantry, fridge and freezer.
- Prep the area that you will be doing most of your entertaining. Minimalise the decor (unless they’re Christmas decorations), so you’ll have less to tidy and maintain.
- Give the house a good clean (or delegate a room or two to each family member). You can even keep that delegated list to each family member to maintain over the holiday period.
- Give the yard a good tidy up (or delegate as above)
- Get rid of unwanted, unused, unworn or too small clothes, toys, stuff so you can create space for more gifts or just less stuff.
- Sit back and relax, waiting for the magic to happen.
The Christmas countdown is on. Being prepared is my key to preventing last minute stress.
