We’ve all heard of getting “summer body” ready, but what about getting “summer house” ready.
I love this change of season because we can throw off the old, heavy layers and reveal all that beauty that has been hiding out for the winter.
So I thought I’d share my things to do list with you.
1. Spend a day in the garden. Poison or dig up those bindies and weeds from the lawn. Weed the garden, plant some summer bloomers and spread fresh mulch in the garden beds.
2. Gurney or sweep your paved outdoor areas to get rid of that layer of dust or dirt that has accumulated over winter.
3. Get out your summer doona and throw it and your pillows over the clothesline to air on a fresh sunny day.
4. Sort out your wardrobe, put your boots and jumpers away and bring out your summer clothes and sandals.
5. While you’re in your wardrobe, take stock of what you’ve got and what’s missing so you have an idea of when you actually need when you go shopping next.
5. Sort out your fridge and pantry and check expiry dates of all your salad dressings and other foods that you may not eat so often during the colder months.
6. Run a cleaning cycle through your washing machine and dishwasher.
7. Check your liquor cabinet and make sure you’ve got the ingredients for your favourite summer cocktails/mocktails.
And that’s how I plan to get my house “summer ready”.
Have I missed anything?
