The Federal Government has just announced the $680 million HomeBuilder program that makes available $25,000 grants to help build or substantially renovate your home.
How does it work?
- It’s only available for contracts signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.
- Construction must commence within three months of contract date.
- A new home must be owner occupied with value not exceeding $750,000.
- Renovations must be on your principal place of residence, with renovation contract between $150,000 and $750,000 and property value not exceeding $1.5 million.
- It is means tested.
If you’re a first home buyer, there are a range of first home buyer and state government grants, stamp duty concessions and rebates as well as the federal First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and First Home Super Saver Scheme that are available and work in conjunction with the HomeBuilder grant.
