“If we don’t band together as women to help each other, we won’t move forward.” Nicole Kidman
I love this!
It’s the basis of my business and pretty much my life. I love the concept of women helping women – whether it’s by employing them in a role that utilises their skills and matches their personality, or mentoring them in a business they can build to support their lifestyle or by helping them become home owners or property investors. These are things that I do on a daily basis and I’m incredibly proud that I’ve put myself in a position to be able to do so.
I didn’t really understand why women needed to support women. Surely, we can all support each other, can’t we? Why does it have to be a gender thing?
But the older I get, the more I see, the more I hear, the more I understand. We aren’t treated as equals. We aren’t paid as equals. We aren’t educated as equals. We aren’t recruited or promoted as equals. We certainly don’t retire with equal superannuation balances if we’ve taken time out of the workforce to raise a family.
Until we have gender equity in the workplace, the home and the community, we need to stand together. Women need to support each other and ask for more. Demand better. Hopefully there will be men standing with us – so it’s important that our actions unite rather than segregate.
I have hope that we will one day band together as a human race to help each other to move forward and gender won’t come into the discussion. Until then, lets stand together and do whatever we can to support women to be, do and have more.
