I’ll never forget my first experience of approaching a bank to apply for my first home loan. I had worked hard and saved what I thought was enough for a deposit. This in itself was a miracle based on my previous spending habits!
To be turned down by that bank was heartbreaking and disillusioning. “Why bother if I’m never going to get there?”, was my new frame of mind.
After a little pity party, I got back on track and finally achieved my dream of getting a loan and owning a home.
This rejection set me on a path that would change my life. Not only did I have a burning desire to prove Mr Bank Manager wrong, but it also motivated me to want to empower people about how to buy a home.
So I also bought a mortgage broking franchise and have been working every day since to show my clients how they can achieve their goals rather than putting a fire extinguisher on their dreams.
Failure and rejection are funny things, aren’t they. They can either knock you down or build you up stronger and more determined than you were before.
